Not to sound disrespectful...but how do people have the patience to read the Thelemic texts? I have a lot of difficulty getting through them, yet I'd like to know more.

Quote: Heheh No offence taken. Reading Thelemic Texts do take a bit of patients but so does being a Thelemite its kind of an unwritten rule that you have to have money, Patients, and allot of time on your hands seeing as that it's extremely disciplined waking up every morning doing your adorations, meditations, and so forth and so on all the way through the day. ( to see how to develope discipline see: Liber III Vel Jugorum ) But if you would like, any questions in which you have regarding any aspect of Thelema ( except in regards to the Book of the Law) feel free to ask. My knowledge is your knowledge. ![]() |

you know Gnosti, I am so happy that you joined our community. I used to have such a negative view of Thelema, but after reading many of your posts, I know that I was completely wrong. (I didn't have a very good source). Now I would like to start anew and learn more about Thelema. Not to sound like a butt kisser
Thanks! |

Re: Question (general) | #15 | ||
Quote: You have no idea what this means to me especially at this time in my life where everything is kinda hectic and in shambles. I was beggining to wonder whether anyone was reading my posts. So thank you, thank you so much. As far as not having a good source goes, I've noticed alot of Thelemites tend to walk on a darker side of the path and many ppl who claim to be Thelemites are no more than self indulgent heidonists and usually become prey to thier egos, and will eventually lose their sanity due to their inablity to let go of themsleves (or really what they think themsleves to be.) This is unfortunate becuase they tend give the rest of the Thelemites a bad name and are the enemy of truth (and consequently the enemy of man) but just remeber this saying when listening to any self proposed Thelemite, "you shall know them by the fruits they bear." Quote: heheh Thelema is one of the most confusing of all religions because in icorporates all religions. A Thelemites life is full of studying, hard work, and lots of failure but this failure is to be expected (and is really partial success) It utilises science, the qabalah, and rationality + faith. We are taught not to accept our rewards but reject the becuase they will immediatly transmute themselves into temptations. This sounds alot easier then it really is because temptations come in many guises. But I'm getting somewhat of subject. A few good places to start is the study of the qabalah (once you get a basic grasp of the qabalah the Libers wont be so over whelming) A study of sciences of various natures ( esp. Math) is a great help. For a study of the Holy books of Thelema get the Equinox volume IV number I (Commentaries on the holy books) Also read holy scriptures of various faiths including Chritianity (including the apocrapha, the Pseudipgrapha and other non-canonized works) , Judaism, Muslem, Tao, Buddhist, and other faiths and beliefs. Also a pretty descent book is Lon Milo Duquette's "Magick of Thelema" though I am inclined to disagree with some of his points on the Ritual of the Star Ruby. Thelema takes patients, and lots of studying but you being a practioneer of Magick have a lead on most seeing as that your already accustomed correspondences, complex symbolisms and the likes. I hoped that answered your question if you'd like a larger list of books dealing with Qabalah and Thelema just ask. ![]() |

"Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law" -AL 1:40
I'm Going to be busy for awhile seeing as that I'm taking up a work in which will require alot of my time. I cannot at this time go into the nature of the work I have taken up, however I promise to post as much as I possibly can including the qabalistic tarot formula in which I'm still working all the bugs out of as well as a lecture on the qabalah and magick. As well as some Tantra rituals which I am currently writting. (which will be posted in the Sexual spirituality section and not here.) As well as many other things in which I am working on (one down fall on working on so many things at once is that it takes twice as long to get anything out) all for those here at MJ (my home away from home) Now, I am in no way stepping down as Mod for the Thelema Forum. MJ is by far one of my favorite places and I am honoured to be apart of such a great community (even if we do have our share of problems from time to time) And I would at this time like to thank all of you for welcoming me and better yet making me feel welcomed. Like I said this is not my last post I just thought I would express my gratefullness for this place and you ppl. Until next time, I love you all. Love is the law, love under will. -AL 1:57 Fra.Gnosti Seauton (1165) |
